"Kesari" is a Bollywood historical action-drama film based on true events. Set in the late 19th century, it tells the inspiring story of the Battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army defended an outpost against overwhelming opposition.

The film follows Havildar Ishar Singh, a Sikh soldier who is posted to the remote outpost of Saragarhi Fort in the Northwestern Frontier Province (present-day Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan). The fort is strategically located on the border with Afghanistan, and its main purpose is to provide communication between British India and Afghanistan.

Initially, the movie showcases the daily lives and camaraderie among the soldiers stationed at Saragarhi Fort. Despite the challenging terrain and constant threat of attacks from Afghan tribes, the soldiers find solace in one another's company and maintain a strong spirit.

The plot escalates when the Afghan tribal leader, Mullah Saidullah, plans to revolt against the British and unite various tribes to crush the Saragarhi outpost. He sends his messenger to Saragarhi, demanding the surrender of the fort. However, Havildar Ishar Singh bravely rejects the offer, vowing to protect the fort at any cost.

As news of the impending attack reaches the 21 Sikh soldiers, they become aware of the sheer magnitude of the enemy force gathering against them. Realizing they are grossly outnumbered, the soldiers prepare themselves mentally and physically for the impending battle.

On the morning of September 12, 1897, the Afghan tribes launch a relentless, large-scale assault to capture the fort. The 21 Sikh soldiers, heavily outnumbered by approximately 10,000 Afghan attackers, confront the enemy valiantly.

Despite suffering heavy casualties, the Sikh soldiers display extraordinary bravery and valor in the face of overwhelming odds. They repel wave after wave of Afghan attacks, defending the fort and ensuring its communication lines stay intact.

Throughout the battle, Havildar Ishar Singh remains at the forefront, leading his men and inspiring them to fight with unwavering determination. As the fight progresses, the Sikh soldiers unleash their full strength, utilizing their superior knowledge of warfare and fierce combat skills.

Ultimately, the Battle of Saragarhi comes to a devastating end. Although the Sikh soldiers fight with unmatched courage until their last breath, they are tragically outnumbered and martyred. However, their heroic sacrifice leaves a deep impact and honors their legacy as they manage to kill hundreds of Afghan attackers.

"Kesari" pays tribute to the extraordinary courage, bravery, and selflessness of the 21 Sikh soldiers who fought against insurmountable odds to defend their post. The film highlights the spirit of valor, brotherhood, and sacrifice, leaving the audience with a profound sense of patriotism and admiration for these unsung heroes of history.
