In the movie "Dummy," the ex-office worker named Steven Schoichet discovers a passion for ventriloquism after being laid off from his job. As he delves into this new world, he creates a unique and charming puppet named Fangus.

Steven's unemployment counselor, Lorena, becomes intrigued by his ventriloquist skills and invites him on a date. As their relationship develops, Steven's newfound career as a ventriloquist starts taking off, with his act gaining popularity among local clubs and audiences.
