In the film "Like Father, Like Son," directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, Ryota Nonomiya is a workaholic businessman who has built a successful career and prioritizes material wealth over emotional connections. However, his world is turned upside down when he discovers that his six-year-old son, Keita, was switched at birth with another baby at the hospital.

Upon learning this shocking truth, Ryota and his wife Midori are introduced to their biological son, Ryusei, and his working-class family. As they start spending time together and exchanging visits, Ryota and Midori begin to experience conflicting emotions and question their identities as parents. Both families must confront the difficult decision of whether to keep the children they have raised or exchange them and live with their biological offspring.

As the two boys gradually bond with their biological families, Ryota becomes increasingly obsessed with nature and genetics, making him believe that blood relations are intrinsically crucial. His obsession with securing his biological lineage clashes with the carefree and loving approach of Ryusei's father, Yudai, who believes that love and nurturing trumps blood ties.

Throughout the film, Ryota finds himself reflecting on his own upbringing and relationship with his cold and distant father. As he struggles with his own insecurities and fear of repeating his father's mistakes, Ryota must make a life-changing decision. He is torn between the love and connection he has developed with Keita over the years and the perceived importance of blood ties.

In the end, "Like Father, Like Son" explores not only the dynamics of parenthood but also class differences and societal expectations. It highlights the universal questions of nature versus nurture, the impact of social status, and the true meaning of family.
