Comedy,Drama   United States of America

In the movie, Vincent, a young man in his early twenties, has Tourette's Syndrome, a neurological disorder that causes involuntary tics and vocal outbursts. After the death of his mother, Vincent finds it difficult to cope with the loss, especially since he had a complicated relationship with her. As per his mother's last wish, her ashes are to be scattered at the ocean, which leads Vincent to embark on an unexpected road trip.

Vincent's father, Robert, is a wealthy politician who aims to maintain his image and reputation. He decides to admit Vincent to a residential treatment center called "The Garden" to help manage his Tourette's Syndrome. Resenting his father's decision, Vincent plans to escape from the center and fulfill his mother's last wish by taking her ashes to the ocean.

During the escape, Vincent crosses paths with Marie, a young woman suffering from anorexia nervosa who also seeks refuge from The Garden. Marie is rebellious and unwilling to follow the center's strict guidelines, fueling her desire to join Vincent on his journey. The two become unlikely friends, with Marie offering support and understanding for Vincent's condition.

On their journey, the duo encounters Alex, a young man with severe OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) who is escaping The Garden as well. Alex's compulsions make it challenging for him to connect with others, but despite this, he forms a bond with Vincent and Marie. Together, they overcome various obstacles and confront their personal demons while learning to accept and support one another despite their struggles.

Throughout the road trip, the three companions face not only external challenges but also internal battles. As Vincent grapples with his complicated feelings towards his deceased mother and his strained relationship with his father, Marie fights her inner demons of self-hatred and low self-esteem due to her eating disorder. Alex, on the other hand, tries to break free from the restraints of his OCD and develop connections with others.

"The Road Within" explores themes of friendship, self-acceptance, and the power of understanding beyond one's differences. As Vincent, Marie, and Alex navigate the road trip filled with unexpected detours and self-discovery, they find solace in one another's company while letting go of their past burdens.
