In God of Gamblers III Back to Shanghai, the story continues with Sing and Tai-Kun finding themselves trapped in Shanghai in the year 1937. The city is under the control of the Japanese military forces, and Sing must navigate the dangerous and chaotic environment while trying to find a way to return to Hong Kong in 1991.

Sing's grandfather, Chow Tai Fook, plays a crucial role in the plot. Sing discovers that his grandfather is a legendary gambler himself and is known as "The Saint of Gamblers" during the time period. Sing seeks his guidance to survive in this era and fight against the Japanese.

Unfortunately, Sing also develops a mistaken crush on one of a pair of twin sisters, adding a romantic subplot to the film. Sing is torn between his attraction to the sister and his mission to protect his own time.

While in Shanghai, Sing encounters Ding Lik, a wealthy businessman who becomes his ally in the fight against the Japanese occupation forces. However, Ding Lik has his own enemies, and Sing must help him overcome them.

Throughout the film, Sing and Tai-Kun's ESP powers play a significant role. They face off against each other, exerting their powers with full force. Their clash creates a distortion in the spacetime, which adds to the tension and unpredictability of their situation.

Another mystery arises when Sing learns about a famous French gambler named Pierre Cashon, who was defeated by an unknown opponent known as "Comment allez-vous" during that era. Sing becomes determined to uncover the truth behind Cashon's defeat and find out who "Comment allez-vous" really is.

As Sing tries to navigate the dangerous landscape, protect his loved ones, and unravel the mysteries of this era, he ultimately seeks a way to return to his own time in Hong Kong. The film builds up to an intense climax as Sing races against time to find a solution and ensure his safe return.
