In the movie "Yours, Mine & Ours," Admiral Frank Beardsley and Helen North marry on a whim after reconnecting at a high school reunion. With Frank being a widower with eight children and Helen having ten, their combined family consists of 18 kids. The spirited and chaotic household soon becomes a battleground as the kids from both sides struggle to adjust to their new living arrangements.

Frank runs the household like a military ship, enforcing structure, discipline, and tradition. He assigns chores, implements a strict schedule, and expects the children to adhere to rules and regulations. On the other hand, Helen's parenting style involves creating a loving and accepting atmosphere, where individuality and creativity flourish, and group hugs are a common occurrence.

Conflict arises as the two sets of kids clash due to their contrasting upbringings. The disciplined preppies resent the lack of structure and perceive the free-spirited North children as uncontrollable and disruptive. Meanwhile, the North children feel suffocated by the strict rules imposed on them by Frank.

As the tension escalates, the children devise a plan to break up their parents' marriage in hopes of returning to their own previous living arrangements. They form alliances based on their personalities and begin scheming to create chaos and friction between Frank and Helen.

However, as the children spend more time together and start to understand each other's perspectives, they begin to realize the value of compromise and cooperation. They come together to unite against a common enemy: a strict school principal who threatens to separate them by sending the older children off to boarding schools.

Working together, the children orchestrate a grand plan to expose the principal's wrongdoings and bring him down. During this process, they not only sabotage the potential dissolution of their family but also develop deep bonds and friendships across the sibling divide.

In the end, their successful mission not only saves their family but also teaches them the importance of acceptance, understanding, and love. The children come to appreciate and embrace their unique family dynamic, realizing that despite their differences, they can coexist as a loving and united bunch.
