Plot Details:

"Ayar" follows the story of Ayar, a first-generation American Latina, who returns home after being away for an extended period. She is excited and hopeful to reunite with her daughter, whom she had to leave behind in the care of her mother, Renata.

However, upon her arrival, Ayar is devastated to discover that her mother, Renata, refuses to let her see her daughter due to the ongoing Covid pandemic. Renata's fear of exposing her granddaughter to the virus leads her to make the difficult decision to keep Ayar away from their lives.

Feeling heartbroken and desperate to reconnect with her daughter, Ayar finds herself confronting the many roles she has been forced to play throughout her life.
