"The Fault in Our Stars" follows the story of Hazel Grace Lancaster, a 16-year-old girl living with terminal thyroid cancer. Due to an experimental drug called Phalanxifor, her tumor has shrunk, adding a few more years to her life. Despite this, Hazel is constantly aware of her inevitable fate.

One day at a support group for children with cancer, Hazel meets Augustus Waters, a charming and witty 17-year-old boy who lost his leg to osteosarcoma but is now in remission. Augustus is instantly drawn to Hazel's intelligence and dry sense of humor, and a deep connection forms between them.

Hazel introduces Augustus to her favorite book, "An Imperial Affliction," written by Peter Van Houten. The book ends abruptly, which frustrates both of them as they want to know what happens to the characters. Augustus manages to get in touch with Van Houten's assistant and arranges a meeting with the reclusive author in Amsterdam.

With the support of their parents, Hazel and Augustus embark on a journey to Amsterdam. During their time together, their bond deepens, and they fall in love. However, they also face various challenges related to their illnesses, including Hazel constantly relying on an oxygen tank and Augustus experiencing a recurrence of his cancer.

When Hazel and Augustus finally meet Van Houten in Amsterdam, they are disappointed by his rude and dismissive behavior. They later discover that Van Houten's own daughter had died of cancer, explaining his bitter attitude. Disheartened, they return to their hotel, where Augustus confesses that his cancer has returned aggressively, and he does not have much time left.

Back in the United States, Augustus's health rapidly deteriorates, and Hazel and her friend Isaac, another support group member, take turns caring for him. Despite his declining health, Augustus remains determined to leave a lasting impact on the world before he dies.

Augustus passes away, leaving Hazel devastated. She delivers a heartfelt eulogy at his funeral, expressing her love for him and how he helped her believe in the existence of forever. In the aftermath, she discovers a letter Augustus had written to Van Houten before his death.

In the letter, Augustus had expressed his admiration for Hazel and his hopes that Van Houten would find solace in the fact that his book had touched the lives of two cancer-stricken teenagers. Touched by his words, Van Houten reaches out to Hazel, apologizing for his behavior and explaining that his writing was inspired by his daughter's battle with cancer.

"The Fault in Our Stars" explores themes of love, friendship, and the fragility of life, taking the audience on an emotional journey as Hazel and Augustus navigate their intense feelings while confronting their own mortality.
