"Dying to Survive" is a Chinese drama-comedy film released in 2018, based on a true story. The protagonist, Yong Cheng, is a middle-aged man struggling to make ends meet by running a small store that sells aphrodisiac products in China.

One day, a desperate leukemia patient approaches Yong Cheng seeking help. The patient explains that the life-saving drug for his Chronic Granulocytic Leukemia is ridiculously expensive in China. Moved by the man's plight, Yong Cheng sets out on a dangerous journey to India to smuggle a cheap generic version of the same drug back to China.

Yong Cheng successfully brings the drug back and begins selling it secretly to other leukemia patients, charging a fraction of the original price. Gradually, news spreads about his inexpensive drug, and a growing number of patients flock to his store, considering him a savior.

However, Yong Cheng's actions do not go unnoticed by the authorities. As the profits from his enterprise soar, he attracts the attention of both the police and pharmaceutical companies seeking to protect their interests. A cat-and-mouse game ensues as Yong Cheng and his loyal customers fight against the legal system and powerful interests trying to shut them down.

Throughout the film, Yong Cheng faces numerous challenges and ethical dilemmas. His initial motivation to help others transforms into a desire for personal gain as he becomes a wealthy businessman selling the generic drug. However, after witnessing the desperation and suffering of countless patients, Yong Cheng rediscovers his compassion and decides to prioritize saving lives over accumulating wealth.

As the pressure from the authorities mounts, Yong Cheng must gather the support of his customers and the general public to challenge the corrupt system and fight for affordable access to life-saving medication.

"Dying to Survive" is a poignant story that sheds light on the hardships faced by patients in need of expensive medication, as well as the moral complexities of the healthcare industry. It explores themes of compassion, greed, and the power of collective action in the face of adversity.
