Black Magic for White Boys follows the story of an ageing magician named Omar, who is desperate to save his beloved small New York theatre from being taken over by gentrification and demolished. In a last-ditch effort to save his piece of old New York, Omar decides to use real black magic.

Intrigued by the concept of invoking dark forces, Omar sets out to perform a dangerous ritual that he believes will grant him supernatural powers. However, his plans become complicated when his black magic inadvertently causes the death of a young man named Akbar, who just so happens to be the nephew of a powerful voodoo priestess named Adira.

As Omar grapples with the consequences of his actions, he encounters various characters who navigate the harsh realities of life in New York City. These characters include a struggling actor named Matt who gets caught up in Omar's magical mishaps, and a young man named Johnny who is desperate to achieve fame and success in the entertainment industry.

Throughout the film, the boundaries of reality and illusion blur, as Omar and his eclectic group of characters engage in bizarre and sometimes fantastical adventures. The movie delves into themes of gentrification, race, and personal autonomy, touching on the changing nature of New York City and the struggles faced by its inhabitants.

With its mix of edgy misanthropy and a dash of silly sweetness, Black Magic for White Boys presents a dark comedy that explores the complex and ever-changing landscape of urban life. Onur Tukel's film captivates audiences with its unique blend of satire, humor, and social commentary, providing an intimate and thought-provoking portrayal of the modern New York City experience.
